Happy Thanksgiving from Desolation Sound!
Thanks to all who came to the two Adventures in Solitude book launch parties both in Vancouver on Thursday and then Lund on Friday. They were way beyond my expectations! I was able to hold it together in Vancouver but actually got emotional at the beginning of the Desolation Sound launch. Lots of locals showed up, some of whom are in the book, and it overwhelmed me a little bit. Thanks to all the musicians who helped out with the launches… Said the Whale in Vancouver, Ben Bouchard in Lund, and my lovely wife Jill, who surprised me with a brand new song called “The End of the Road”. Thanks also to Amanda at the Museum of Vancouver and to Evelyn and Nancy in Lund. Check out the Vancouver Is Awesome review and video of the event here.
Jill and I spent the next couple of days at the cabin for the last time in 2010, and had a gorgeous Sunday, watching three huge sea lions cavort in the waters just off shore. Jill and I closed up the cabin for the winter, draining all the pipes, bailing out the toilet, hauling in the kayaks, stowing the picnic table and BBQ. Always a drag, but now it’s time to go back on tour which for me will be the first time since 2004 when The Smugglers did our last tour through California.
I’m going coast to coast, and you can check out all the dates here. If you’re in Vancouver and missed the launch, I’ll be doing a redux at the Vancouver Public Library on Monday November 1st.
