GL Desolation Sound
-
Hey Grant,
Picked up your book on my way back on the ferry from Powell River to Vancouver Island this very Easter weekend, we may even have passed boats. I had just spent the weekend in the north end of Desolation sound at my brothers new Resort ‘Homfray Lodge’. Your writings were relaying all the fun and excitment the area had to offer. I met some of their neighbors, who spend the winters and the summers up there as caretakers. Experienced the quiet beauty of the scenery and the wildlife.
Just wanted to thank you and let you know how much I had enjoyed the read!
Cheers! -
Loved the book…we raised our family in Nolalu, Ontario and had a similar cast of aging Finlanders and draft dodgers as friends and neighbors….W5 even aired a clip once about how to harvest “the crop” from the bush which featured a couple of our resourceful but not too bright locals. Distance and isolation makes for great bed mates and experiences.Thank you for crafting an excellent story that reminisces about our Canadian culture set in our Canadian wilderness.

Hi Grant
Homfray Lodge is South of Toba Inlet. If you ever get a chance to pop in I know they’d love to have company! I have passed along your Adventures in solitude book and I am sure it now sits in the Cook house for travellers to enjoy by the fire. You can find a little more info on their site http://www.homfraylodge.comEnjoy your site
Cheers
